Leonardo DiCaprio‘s foundation, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, will be donating $40 million in grants to more than 30 organizations implementing innovative and impactful conservation projects around the globe.
“The destruction of our planet continues at a pace we can no longer afford to ignore,” the 40-year-old actor said in a statement. “We have a responsibility to innovate a future where the habitability of our planet does not come at the expense of those who inhabit it. I know he has been an advocate for years, and he puts his money where his mouth is!! I wish we could get him to be a wolf advocate, and speak out for the wolves that are being slaughtered, and tortured. I just watched him in the movie "blood diamond", he is a great actor, too...........
I wish he would help Elephants more, Nosey, Mohan, and Mali just to name a few. But he does do good work for lots of animals and I do feel he is helping were he can. your a good lad, keep up the good work.

Leo, have you considered adding the wild horses and burros to your list? I love that you are helping in so many areas... that's amazing that one person cares about so much! But, I believe that our wild horses and burros are in such a great need and in danger of being extinguished altogether that I just wanted to bring that to your attention. They are such a huge part of our heritage and such an inspiration to this day. They are suffering so much at the hands of the BLM and other powers that be and they need our help desperately. Currently there is a need to construct predator friendly carcass removal pits in Washington and Oregon to help reduce livestock and wildlife conflicts. There are small groups such as Eastern Washington Wildlife Conservation on Facebook that are running fundraisers and actively participating in the field to help people and keystone species such as wolves , Bears and humans coexist. Please look into that group for sure.

1/ créer un organisme type UNESCO pour protéger les espèces en voie de disparition mais aussi toutes les espèces animales ; les animaux sont le patrimoine de l'Humanité et doivent être protéger comme tout être vivant, toute destruction d'espère par un pays ou un groupe d'individus doit être immédiatement dénoncée et condamnée au versement de sommes conséquentes pour chaque animal tué. (Exemple Tuerie d'éléphant par exemple pour leur ivoire etc )
2/ interdire mondialement l’élevage d'animaux pour leurs fourrures , leurs plumes etc,
3/ obliger les éleveurs du monde entier à élever en plein air, les espèces quelle qu'elles soient (vaches, cochons, poules ,,,) et interdire l'élevage en cage ou toute autre forme entravant le droit à la vie des animaux.
4/ interdire de tuer les bébés animaux (veaux, agneaux, canetons,,) avant l'âge adulte déterminé par un comité comprenant aussi les association de défenses des animaux
5/ interdire l’élevage intensif et industriel et toutes recherches visant au clonage d'animaux ou méthodes visant à obtenir le développement (en chine clonage de vaches)
4/ punir mondialement très sévèrement tout acte de barbarie contre une espèce animale
5/ mettre en place des actions à grandes échelles pour stériliser les animaux plutôt que les laisser proliférer et les abattre !!!
6/ interdire la vente d'animaux en animalerie en ne leur laissant que la vente de nourriture et objets au profit des associations de protection d'animaux chargées de les placer en famille.
7/ interdire définitivement les recherches sur les espèces animales
8/ interdire la capture, l'expédition et la vente d’espèces pour laisser toutes les espèces évoluer dans leur milieu naturel.
7/ interdire dans les 5 années à venir la vente de produits alimentaires dans les supermarchés au profit des petits producteurs locaux ou de leur regroupement en coopératives dont la taille sera limiter en développement, ceci pour éviter des méthodes d'abattage relevant de tueries

You must be a wise soul, Leo. The environmental abuse comes from the vested interests of corporations who have lived with a total disregard for the impact on the environment. The solutions are there, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the good souls in their selfless work of restoring that environment. I hope you will have real expectations of outcomes and have people in place to ensure that those outcomes are met. I also suggest that energy be put into sustainable ideas for how those organizations can continue to finance their work after your grants are finished. Good work, Leo. WOW... thank you , thank you, thank you. I raised these beautiful animals in the early 70s, and went to schools and speeches on how kind and social these wolves are. I had my girl and she loved everyone and I showed our youth that WE need to save them. That they need to be around for our next generation to see in the wild, to hear the cry of the wolf.. I'm not a fan of his, but I have to admit that he's a force in Hollywood to be reckoned with. In the decades to come, his name is going to be mentioned with the likes of Rock Hudson, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, etc.
But you can't really hate someone who donates tens of millions of dollars to world conservation efforts. A lot of celebrities allow their name to be used, or talk about something without putting their money where their mouths are.

I also pray that he speaks out for animal's and that his pleas don't fall on deaf ears...He's helped out before, He cares, maybe if we ask him he'll answer. Money IS needed formost just to be able to take on this huge responsibility of saving animals. The whole world has gone mad with hurting, killing, raping, abusing, torturing, eating, ANIMALS everywhere.

Wonderful! Wolves are very misunderstood. Logging and oil companies blame them for loss of caribou, and they get killed as a result of scapegoating.

Wildlife protection laws in Canada are not a priorty, many animals trapped snd raised for fur, no lawa to protect urban deer, raccoons are considered pests.Eildlife is owned by the Provinces and provincal laws regarding cruelty and enforcement a huge problem.
