This Man Has to Be Aquaman in Next Superman Film. He Just Has To!
Rumors that Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, The Red Road) will play Aquaman in the next Superman film (Batman vs. Superman, coming 2016) have been flying about for several months.
The Native Hawaiian actor has been shooting them down at every turn, but if you check his page at the relatively-accurate Internet Movie Database, you'll see that he is listed, unambiguously, as playing the role of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. (He is merely "rumored" to be in the followup Justice League movie).
In January, Momoa told IGN.com: "I'm not involved in it. ... Maybe someone said, 'You should be in this!' and I said, 'Yeah that would be great!' And it just went too far."
In May, he told a writer from ComicBook.com at Motor City Comic Con: "What does everything tell you? No. Stop asking me. It's so annoying. Sorry, you're not annoying."
In mid-June, the website HitFix.com wrote that Momoa-as-Aquaman is a sure thing: "While Warner Bros. hasn't made that announcement officially yet, HitFix can confirm that he will be playing the part, and that [director] Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon."
Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel confronted Momoa with the report, and the actor seemed far less irritated than he had previously. After such vehement denial, is this relative confirmation? Or was Momoa just being nice because he was on TV? More importantly, do you think Momoa, who may actually be part fish (his uncles were pro surfers in Hawaii and he got his start on Baywatch), would make a good Aquaman?
