A stray dog was rescued from freezing to death by a Sheriff's deputy in Evansville, Indiana last week.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office Deputy Mark Rasure saw a stray dog wandering outside in the subzero cold temperatures last week. When he called local animal control but they told him they were backed up and had several runs to make before they could make it out.
Noticing the dog was shivering from the cold and her fur was frozen, Deputy Rasure decided he could'nt leave her outside for any longer. He found some pecans and string cheese in his car and using the food, he was able to lure her over. He was able to get her his van and take her to animal control.
"The dog would've definitely died," Evansville-Vanderburgh Animal Control Officer Jeremy Outlaw told Evansville Courier & Press.
Named "Winter" by animal control, she may soon have a happy ending. Winter has been pre-adopted and someone is waiting for the manatory week before taking her home.
