Boston Firefighter Rescues Siberian Husky From Ice-Covered Bay
A lucky husky was plucked out of the icy waters of Pleasure Bay yesterday by a firefighter who says dog or human, he’ll do what he can to save ’em.
“We look at the pets like citizens,” said firefighter Sean P. Coyle of Ladder 19. “They’re loved by their owners ... whether it’s in a burning building or a freezing lake, we just want to get them out safe.”
Sylvie, a 13-year-old, was out with her owner when she ran across the ice near Castle Island and fell through.
Coyle donned the survival suit and moved onto the ice in a Stokes basket.
“As I got closer, I could see the ice was encapsulating him,” Coyle said. “He was frozen and real scared.”
Coyle pulled Sylvie out — and she bolted across the ice to shore. Coyle fell in himself, but he was attached to a rope and his fellow jakes hauled him out.

This firefighter is a bloody legend!! There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a story like this, in a crappy world.
Thanks to that firefighter. Indeed they are just a part of the family.
THANK YOU FROM MY HEART FOR SAVING THIS BEAUTIFUL AND GRACIOUS DOG. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU. AGAIN THANK YOU FIREFIGHTER FOR THIS RESCUE.
Two of my favorite people, firefighters and dogs. Way to go Sir!
A big thank you to the man that saved him. The idiot owner should be billed for the service and fined for not having his dog on a leash. You can say "my dog listens" all you want. They listen 'till that one time they don't.
Dog's best friends - Firefighters !!!! Hats off to all these great guys....
A true HERO!!!! YOU are AWSOME!!!
Some guy just superb
I've seen other rescues, from dogs to deer from icy waters. People who do this wonderful thing are very special people ....Thank You for your kind hearts! I don't know you, but I sure would like to give you a great big hug!
As a former owner of 2 Huskies , I take my hat of to anyone who rescues any animal. Big hugs to you, and people like you, <3

YAY!
good job!
Awesome! And Brian was there, right? lol
You know, when it comes right down to it, most would try to save an animal in stress. Some times they themselves get into a situation because of it. Best to have professionals do the rescuing but when not available, I really think you or I would give it a go.
Thank you for caring and saving this fur baby. Huskies wanderer and escape frequently. No refection on the owner. It's a Nordic dog thing. My husky girl and Sammoyeds loved to roam . Thank you again for caring.
Wonderful. Looks more like a Malamute to me. My best friend was a Malamute.
A BIG "Thank You" to the firefighter who saved this beautiful dog. These first responders are often taken for granted, even though they risk their OWN lives to save others. God Bless you, Sir, and ALL first responders who put their lives on the line to save humans and animals. May you continue to be safe and well. Happy Holidays to you.
