You will fall in love with these two bald eagles caring for their eggs, live on Eaglecam!

Few birds are as fierce and beautiful as the bald eagle, a predator who is both a mascot of the United States and (tragically) one of the victims of this country's expansion into the birds' traditional habitats.

Still, many bald eagles survive — sometimes by adapting to human civilization. That's the case with these two, who have made their nest in the middle of a suburban park in Florida.

According to the Eaglecam site:

The nest resides 60 feet above the ground, in a Slash Pine tree. The camera faces South East . . . These bald eagles have been coming to this nest for the past 5 years. They reside in this nest between the months of October and April.

Before building this nest in 2008, the pair had a nest on the opposite side of Bayshore Road. This location is now known as Eagle Landing. This mature, mating pair continue to make Southwest Florida their winter home.

Thanks to a local real estate agency's sponsorship of the live feed, you can enjoy the domestic antics of these eagles — who welcomed two new eggs into their nest earlier this week. The eggs will hatch sometime around the new year.

You won't be able to stop watching this mesmerizing pair as they do little things like fluff up the grass in the nest, and reposition their wings to keep the eggs warm. All while cars are zooming by in the background. Nature really does find a way. (Source)

  1. Are there other eagles around?? I seem to hear the same chirp while both parents had their beaks full and feeding.

  2. How much can the chicks see now?

  3. I cant see my newer comments anymore, the last one is of the big dead bird. I will continue to view the chicks progress everyday until the cam stops, Thank you once again for the Eagle Cam.

Facts about the American Bald Eagle.(link)

Chicks - Sometimes two chicks will survive, but it is not uncommon for the older eaglet to kill the smaller one, especially if the older is a female, as females are consistently larger than males. Should one chick decide to kill its sibling, neither parent will make the slightest effort to stop the fratricide.

They are getting so big! Love the the snow caps! I see they are actually lovin' each other more and more. Actually sitting side by side sharing breakfast without the older one pecking the younger one. I saw them cleaning each others beaks the other day after they ate, it looked like they were kissing each other.

  12. Eagle Watcher says:

With all the people that are out by the eagle nest everyday I will be surprised if the eagles return next year.

  13. helen says:

must be a bit warm there today as the eaglets are in the shade of the tree.

  27. helen says:

That was an interesting meal. The stronger sibling dragged the fish to start eating, then the adult came and took it off him and ate most of it. Thats what you get if you dont ask first i suppose. Flapping of the wings and practicing jumping too i see.

  28. Anonymous says:

I've been watching this since Dec 1st and I have to say, it has been an honor to watch this unfold and I thank the provider of this so very much! babies practising pumping their wings and jumping up and down-I feel like a proud parent seeing this as it happened, right from the beginning!!! such a gift!

  29. helen says:

    Where is the second?

  31. helen says:

yes one on the perch and the other must be nearby getting ready for their biggest adventure, wish we could see them fly, is anyone going to position another temporary camera? p l e a s e !

  32. Anonymous says:

Have they flown out of the nest at all yet?

  33. helen says:

i have seen them go onto the branches but dont know any more than that . the older sibling gobbled up a fish on his own yesterday. When mother brought a second fish , he stole that too, but mum took it back. the younger sibling still gets food but not as much. I will miss these when they have gone.

  34. helen says:

Still on and off the nest. Eating fish on their own now. They'll soon be off.

  35. helen says:

Lots of squwables over fish between mum and 'teens' getting very possesive on the breakfast table.

  36. Anonymous says:

i've been off the air what has happen have they left I heard strong storms pass does anyone know?

  37. Anonymous says:

Glad to see them back again. Just watched readjusting in the nest and saw two eggs!

  38. Anonymous says:

Some animals can see infared light, and it seems the insects are attracted to the infared or ultraviolet light from the night vision camera. The eagles appear to be negatively affected by this. I hope that they use different technology so the eagles can be in peace at night.
