Chihuahua Bell Credited With Finding Friends In Woods
Recently two young sisters,Carlie and Lacey Parga, who lived in Newnan, Ga., were out walking their dog in the nearby woods on some trails not far from their neighborhood. Eventually they strolled into some unfamiliar area and the more they kept trying to find their way out, the more lost they became. They searched for more than two hours until they finally decided to just stay put where they were. The sisters, ages 8 and 5, were quite scared wondering how they would ever get back home.
Their father, David Parga, who knew it wasn't like them to wander off, began to search for them in the nearby woods. As he was searching, as his wife called police. Soon police officers and fire crews arrived at the scene and immediately began combing the area for the lost girls. It was also at this time that the girls' neighbor, Carvin Young, joined in the search with Bell, a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix. The sisters had played often with Bell who just lived right across the street from them.
Mr. Young described his dog in the search in this way, "
"Bell sniffed them out. She smelled them, her tail went to wagging and she kept running and running until she got to them. She started jumping up on me and I knew we were close." The search team then followed Bell, and she led them deep into the wooded area to where the girls were resting. They were scared but not injured at all.
Bell's quick and decisive actions to find the girls just goes to show that when it comes to heroes, size plays no part in it. The girl's mother, Rebecca Parga, expressed her feelings about little Bell's lifesaving actions in this way, "A sheer blessing that she (Bell) lives across the street from us. Bell is familiar with them, and she knew they were back there, she knew my kids. That's what kept drawing her to go in that direction."
Bell doesn't understand all the accolades about what she did, she is just glad to have her friends, the Parga sisters, back with her to play another day. Watch the video below to learn more about this uplifting story.
