HUNT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Hunt County deputies are investigating the death of a rare white buffalo. CBS 11 News sources say Lightning Medicine Cloud was found butchered and skinned on Monday. The next day the buffalo’s mother was found dead.
The white buffalo holds great significance to Native Americans. Lightning Medicine Cloud was born almost a year ago on the Lakota Buffalo Ranch in Greenville.
Ranch owner Arby Little Soldier has said at the time that the animal is a one in ten million occurrence.
Arby Little Soldier is a member of the Lakota tribe and also says white buffaloes are considered sacred and carry a significant spiritual message.
Last year hundreds showed up to see the buffalo in person.
No one at the ranch would comment Thursday.
Someone who picked up the phone at the ranch said a ceremony was still scheduled next week to honor Lightning Medicine Cloud’s birthday.
The Texas Rangers along with the sheriff’s office are trying to figure out what happened.

This is the act of a spirit-sick person. The whole world is sick, but a new day is coming. My prayers also for Lightning Medicine Cloud, his mother & the twisted person(s) who did this. :(

it is sad that there is no respect for God's animals. No matter if it is the Indian or not and besides that it was a rare spirit and whoever done this will pay one day for what was done.

What a heartbreaking scene to have come upon. We will probably never know what drove them to do such a horrible act and then to have had the safe fate dealt to his mother is beyond comprehension. I pray for their souls to find peace, that one day they may know what they did was wrong. We are living in some very troubled times today and there has to be an end in sight...
it seems like somebody really has a problem. it should be obvious who did it if you really think about it. someone was unhappy with you for some reason. an enemy. maybe someone who has a major problem with animal worship. it could be hard since there has been so much media coverage of the sacred animal. but, more than likely its an enemy close by.
This is a heartbreaking event...'why" so senseles. Prayers go out to all Native Americans...all the nations..What goes around will come around. May God grant and help the each one of you peace. Justice will be done wether here in this world or in the next.
It makes me sick inside and makes my heart ache when I read the comments that say that whoever did this should be "skinned alive" or cursed or have some sort of violence and/or severe punishment meted out on them. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. I honor The White Buffalo's spirit whether it resides in his physical body or the spirit realm. I wish no harm to come to anyone. Even those that do harm. Would the spirit of this buffalo, the mother buffalo and the true spirit of whoever did this (the one outside his physical body) want vengeance? No. Anyone carrying out this act is troubled deeply. Any who would skin the person who skinned the buffalo is troubled deeply. THINK before you call for this type of "justice", because it is NOT justice. Eradicating this type of thinking will eradicate (almost) this type of behavior. Just my .02 cents...
