Rocky may turn out to be the only squirrel who grows up thinking he's a cat, as he's picking up their habits quite fast.
When Emmy the cat got pregnant and had kittens, her former owner could no longer taker care of her, so Jim and Karen Watkins stepped in. But they were in for a surprise, because with the 18 cats they brought to their home came a baby squirrel.
Rocky the squirrel fell out of a tree in the yard of the former owner's home, WLBT reports. When unable to get back up the tree, the owner took a bold move, and put Rocky right in with the litter of kittens.
Emmy immediately took to Rocky, and cared for him as if he were just another of her litter.
Now Rocky acts right at home, and as can be seen in this video, he even purrs when pet, just like the other kittens. (Source)
"She's very protective of it. If it starts to move and she don't like where its going she'll reach up and pull it back and start licking it and taking care of it like she would one of her kittens," said Jim Watkins.
Jim Watkins and his wife Karen of Carthage have helped organize Central Mississippi T.A.I.L.S.
"It stands for taking animals into loving shelters," said Jim Watkins.
That's how Jim and Karen got Emmy and her extended family. Emmy's owner lived where she couldn't have pets and called her vet to see what she could do with the new family. (Source)

VIDEO Cat Adopts Baby Squirrel, Teaches It To Purr
A Mississippi couple says their cat has adopted a squirrel that now purrs like a kitten.
we could learn a few lessons from our brother and sister animals!!!
what a wonderful mommy thank u for this amazing story
That is such a sweet story!
this is why i love cats
Awesome
How sweet
Wow so adorable :-)
We had the same experience back in the 1960's in southern NJ, except the baby was a little pink, hairless one, eyes still closed. The nest tree had blown down in a storm. The squirrel will definitely be able to live wild if you will let it. My brother kept ours in his bedroom after it was weened. He always left his window open a couple of inches. For months the squirrel came and went, in less than a year it preferred living in the wild. Rocky may have adapted to the cat life well, but it was first imprinted by its mother squirrel, and their wildness is coded in their dna. Set it free!
