Eric Wilson grew up in Scotland and spent his youth roaming the highland mountains of Scotland where his lifelong love of wild places was born. It was only natural and inevitable that Eric would combine his artist talent with his love of wildlife and become a wildlife artist. His artistic ability was evident from his earliest schooldays. In 1967 his art teacher wrote of him, "Eric has an artistic talent way beyond his years."

Currently Eric lives in Derbyshire, England, with his wife, artist Karin Momberg. He has established himself as one of Britain's leading wildlife artists. He is a multi-award winner whose paintings are now widely collected worldwide. Eric has exhibited widely in London, Germany and the United States. He has exhibited at the prestigious Florida Wildlife and Western Art Exposition and The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art where his work has won several awards. Eric has also done commissioned work for companies such as the Bradford Exchange. Eric has also had his paintings appear in magazines and books such as "The Best of Wildlife Art" and"Keys to Painting Fur and Feathers", by North Light Books. Eric also loves to paint portraits in addition to his wildlife artwork.

Eric has also gone into the field to study his wildlife subjects. Occasionally he has had a few close calls while doing this. While working on The black rhino project (a project dedicated to preserving the Black rhino), near Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, he experienced one of those close calls. This is how Eric describes that day, "Oddly enough, the very next day I was almost killed by a wild territorial bull rhino whilst caught out on foot in the bush. If it wasn't for the quick thinking of my tracker Mark Van Zuydam
who decided we should jump into a dried out river bed to escape, it could have been a very unpleasant day. I took the photo of the rhino charging as I scrambled up a steep hillside. I thought I would be okay at this point but to my suprise the rhino continued up the hill after me. He was one determined rhino!"

Today Eric can often be found as Artist In Residence at the Nature Art Museum in Gloucester, England. He loves to meet the public, discuss his adventures and demonstrate his skills. Enjoy some of the wonderful works of Eric Wilson below.
