The natural power of animal spirit guides has not been lost. The knowledge and power of animal guides is alive and can be effectively used to improve our lives and all creation. American Indians call the process of connecting with animal guides and other parts of creation as being ‘One with Nature.’
Connecting with your animal guide will make you a better person. You will be healthier physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. You will see the world and all things in it with more clarity and understanding.
Animals are wondrous happy creatures. There is no doubt that animals have beautiful, balanced emotions. They love and defend one another. They feel sorrow and melancholy. Yet, there has never been a war between animal species. They know nothing about greed, envy, and hate. They live their entire lives without sin.
They have many amazing powers and use those powers only to benefit their kind and not to overcome their opponents. There is a reason why the Creator put all of us together on the same planet. A part of that reason is to learn from one another.
Animals are here to teach humans. They have many powerful lessons to give. They remind us that we are only a small part of creation; that each part of creation has a place; that each creature has its own skill and wisdom.
For the learning process to begin we must develop a relationship with one or more animal guides and this requires time and patience. This does not mean you must be with the animal physically. But instead, will learn about the traits, habits, skills and spirit of the animal from afar. As with any new knowledge, practice is important to hone learning into a useful skill. The rewards will be understanding, love, light energy, skillful knowledge and wisdom.
Moreover, the reward is having a powerful spiritual friend.
Both domesticated and free animals offer an immense heritage of myth, folklore and symbolism. As we learn about animals, it is important to know their symbolic meaning as a point of reference and comparison, however we must keep in mind that symbols are cultural in nature and differ from place to place, from time to time and may not reflect the nature of the animal as you feel it. Give time to the study of their characteristics, habitat and position in the eco-system.

Beautiful and thoughtful post.
I want to learn more
How do I select an Animal Spirit,or does the Animal Spirit select me. How do I find my way, or path? All animals are so special and beautiful, in there own ways.
Check out, "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews, it's a great book for anyone who wants to learn more about Animal Spirits.
I was told that my animal totem was the owl,but how do I know for sure?
Rabbit came to me in the form of a present when I was about five. He's been with me ever since, a strong constant when nothing else was. :)
what of plant spirit guides, namely trees?
The Wolf and Horse
Yes! Well said! I no this is true I connect with all animals all species!! I'm my happiest connectin with my animals.
All living things plant and animal are connected . Humans need to learn to respect and co exist with all things on this planet.
where do you find where your guide is??
How does this work
I knew I had a spirit animal, the shark my family is Hawaiian and has a strong background with spiritual understanding we follow a saying called "pono" its a belief that everything is connected through spirit animals humans wildlife all of it has a soul and a lesson to teach I recently found out another spirit guide is the white wolf he has come to me many times offering knowledge I hope everyone learns a lesson from finding their spirit animal or guide mahalo and aloha
I have a spirit guardian. The wolf. I see him often and he watches over me.
they are one of the most beautiful animals out there
...If I know the heritage and meaning of my frost wolf, I shall know who and what I am? Lupis frostov, blue rose and mage. I wish to know who I am. This is truly the way to find awnsers?
The animal will select you when it is ready. There is no way to force the connection. Also there is no way to select the animal. Whatever spirit animal that comes to you will closely align with your personality. For instance mine is a wolf.
You meditate on it and see what animal comes to you. That is the only way
Coyote came to me many years ago. Late at night while sleeping on an ocean tugboat crossing the Chukchi Sea. I wrote a story with no knowledge of having gotten up and doing it. Yet, in the morning, there is was. When one learns to listen to intuition and subtle suggestion, then your spirit guide may come.
white wolf has come to me on many times. I know that the white wolf is one of my power animals. I Talk to the wolf all the time. I think that ist the key to finding out. what your power animals is. but dont be alarmed when your power animal changes and it will change when you need help with something else or you need to learn something. animals are messengers. All you have to do is listen.
i like this very much as i love all animals. love to watch them in situations and see their reactions. i try to watch for what it is that they ask for and can tell when they are angry, sad, happy or hurt. i do not have an animal spirit that i know of, but i have dreamed of attacking bears when before i made a decision to change my surroundings, and it has always worked out for the best for me. i have also dreamed about snakes, yuk too, but that was when i was very confused about something and i could never make a decision right away. it seemed as though the snakes were advising me that i thought too much about something that was bad for me and that i needed to do something else, and not that i was listening to them, but that i changed because of my own decision. i never made any connections in either the snake dream or the bear dream. i don't know what to think about it actually. i think this would be an interesting topic to study a bit to find out more about it.
thanks for letting me a part of your community. i will enjoy
You are so right on all of this, and although my animal spirit has found me, we have not connected very well, for I am stubborn, and ignorant, yet he\she decides to stay and protect me, I would really like to know how to connect with my animal spirit, could you help me?

Half of you are all right on what you are saying in these posts, but the ones who say they have wolf spirits.. Most of you are wrong, and greedy, trying to choose your spirit. Yes of course I love wolves but only because that is my spirit animal, if not for that, my favorite animal would be a tiger, for this is how the wolf came to me
**I was in the forest around my G-Ma's house, when I had gotten really distracted, what had caught my attention later was something cold on my skin, and I had looked up to find a wolf staring at me, and at that moment something clicked in both wolf and i, and when I moved, he didn't run away, and he had twondered other wolves with him, who growled and bared their teeth whole he stood there and watched me, I thought It was smart to put my hand on the ground and move it closer, and the wolf actually sniffed my hand, after that, the other two wolves quickly trusted me, and I was basically welcomed into their little pack, and I might of been young, but I realized what a feeling of wholeness was, and this wolf made me whole** I'm sorry the story is long, but that's how I found my spirit.. My soul.. And I hope you all truly find your spirit animals, instead of just faking it.
Again I still need help, I am being stubborn and ignorant to my spirit, email me-- Jadenwolf02@gmail.com
Oh my god.... whole=while.....
Twondered=Two.. Sorry about the typo
Sometimes they come to comfort you but mostly to teach lessons, in my experience for the last 64 yrs.. for instance: After overhearing that my mother was dying of cancer in 1954 when I was 6, I ran away into the forest and after a minute a Wolf appeared and ran beside me--- looking into my eyes then he veered off to the right through a meadow. It calmed and comforted me, something I needed so I returned back home then. A few years ago I was walking my dog along a rocky shore, (a Siberian Husky) and I heard a Raven call 9 words. Then a family of geese were there and my dog ran after them but one little one ran the wrong way and my dog caught it...i was so upset but the Raven's call showed this was to be as the number 9 is an ending number, the end of something or a definite thing is decided. The same call, 9 words from Raven when I moved into my current and final home 4 yrs ago in which I am very blessed to be here in the country on a lake by a forest.
