On April 14th, of this year the U.S. Congress passed the Budget bill to keep the U.S. Government from shutting down. Attached to this bill was a rider that was totally unrelated to the U.S. budget. It was attached by Senator Testor in a self-serving political move to out- hate wolves from his political opponent. It was the only rider left in the Budget bill and Congress passed it. The rider called for the delisting of the Gray wolf in the western U.S. and prohibited any legal challenge to this delisting. This will free up the western states to once again hold their wolf hunts and kill hundreds of wolves next fall. On April 16th, President Obama signed this bill into law.

What Congress did not allow though was for the voice of the American people to be heard. In fact this was done so quietly that the majority of Americans never even knew it happened. Surprisingly the usually very outspoken and opinionated media machine in the U.S. was also mute on this political move.

It is time that we, the people, let President Obama and the U.S. Congress know just how we feel about this underhanded method of sneaking totally unrelated issues through for the political agenda of another politician. And how we feel about the upcoming massacres of the Gray wolf and the potential destruction of the Endangered Species Act that was setup to protect our wildlife after many of them had been eradicated in the past. Now anytime a protected species gets in the way of a politician's goals all they have to do is attach a rider to a bill and that species can be in the crosshairs once again.

Whether you are from the U.S. or the larger world community, please take a minute to vote No in this poll asking if you agree with the delisting of the Gray wolf in America. Thank you for letting your voices be heard!

Toying with my emotions won't help you. I like wolves as much as any of you but the time has come to treat the wolf like the ruthless predator that it is. Just go for a walk in the Yellowstone National Park, alone if you dare. The Rangers won't let you because you are not on the top of the food chain there. The Wolf and the Bear are, and you are just a meal.the wolves don't sing to the trees. they howl to each other to let others know that a meal is near.

To the person who posted just before me. No one is toying with your emotions and you are obviously not on the same page as the rest of us because you seem to be lacking in your understanding of the wolf as a predator. The wolf is an Apex predator and is not a ruthless killer. Only man can take that title. The wolf kills to feed himself and his family not for bloodsport, trophy hunting or the fun of watching a living creature die like man does. The wolf is at the top of the food chain in an ecosystem and helps to keep that ecosystem healthy. But the wolf is a wild animal as is the bear and when near wild animals one must use care and common sense. Wolves do not view humans as just a meal. There have been no reports of a wolf attacking a human in the lower 48 states. Please take some time to educate yourself before commenting next time.

  4. Hugh Chisholm, DVM (veterinarian) says:

Why do we feel we need to eliminate every predator from the planet? Maybe when we are the only creatures left and the world is truly screwed will we realize our mistake. We are only one part of this complicated ecosystem. It seems all the other parts work fine. Will we never learn?

  5. WArd Peterson says:

I agree with Hugh's point to a point.
We only hunt the weaker of the animals to prove we are "MEN", if we were true hunters we'd hunt the most cunning prey of all "MAN".
But hunters being the cowards they are....
